U16s Shining Stars of     the Week!

When you take 3 out of 4 points in a weekend against one of the USPHL's finest, you know something went right. But when in addition to this, you have ALL THREE stars of the week for the division, you know it was something really incredible! Yes, that's right: after this successful weekend against USPHL U16 powerhouse, Providence, the Rochester Junior Americans U16 team had not only taken 3/4 points in the triumph, but also earned not just one USPHL Star of the week, but all 3! With an astonishing 4 point weekend, team leading point getter, Sam Dibetteto  captured the offensive player of the week, while on the back-end, '00 birth year defenseman, Adam Kolcon put up identical statistics, earning himself the U16 defensive player of the week! And with any successful hockey game, comes the invaluable essential of solid net-minding, and this weekend, Rochester had nothing but that. Making 74 saves on 77 shots on the weekend, was standout goaltender, Griffin Varricchio. And in this noteworthy achievement, the Ithaca native completed the trifecta for the Junior Amerks, and received the honors of U16 USPHL Goaltender of the week!

So even with the staunch, daunting reality of being in the lower half portion of the USPHL's

U16 North division, there is still a plentiful of things to build off of and look back upon with a certain positive optimistic nostalgia. With just about half the season in the books, these Rochester Junior Americans have a long haul ahead of them, and a very much so promising outlook for the remaining forfeiture of this 2015/2016 season. The grind continues next weekend, as the team will travel to the Boston area for one of the USPHL's most highly touted showcases, starting with a tilt against the New Jersey Hitmen at 10am on Saturday, as this young squad hopes that they will be able to bring this momentum into the future!
